HUMAN BRAIN
Anatomy Course (3-day / 4-day)
Next course: TBC
(Venue: TBC)
A highly popular and accessible introduction to structural, functional and radiological neuroanatomy
Course Overview
This is our original three-day introduction to human brain anatomy.
Course director:
Dr Paul Johns, BSc BM MSc FAcadMEd FRSB FRCPath
Consultant Neuropathologist
Reader in Clinical Neuroanatomy
Three-day course: £495
(includes course handbook and refreshments)
Suitable for undergraduate / postgraduate students in medicine and biomedical sciences, neuroscience and psychology
This programme is also rated highly as a refresher course and update by junior doctors in neurology, psychiatry and neurosurgery
Mean feedback score (July 2019): 4.9/5.0
Hands-On Brain Anatomy Practical
Our summer 3-day course has an optional half-day brain anatomy practical. The date of the next hands-on session is TBC.
This highly popular practical session provides a unique opportunity to get 'hands on' with preserved human brain specimens.
The session follows the main three-day course and will be held in the anatomy dissection room, King's College London.
[PLEASE NOTE: The practical is an optional addition to the 3-day human brain anatomy course that is only available with the summer course. It cannot be booked as a 'stand-alone' session.]
Read a review
This course has been reviewed by PhD students Anna Jones and Natalie Royle (Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences, University of Edinburgh) who won a Neuroresearchers Fund Award to attend in 2011.
"...Excellent teaching from Dr P. Johns... enabled us to gain a large degree of knowledge in a short time period...
The course has been considerably beneficial to our ongoing research and we would highly recommend it..."
Course Programme
This exciting 3-day / 4-day programme provides a detailed overview of human brain anatomy presented in a very clear and accessible way.
The approach is unlike traditional neuroanatomy courses, emphasising understanding over rote learning.
The comprehensive lecture programme gives a firm grasp of the three-dimensional structure of the brain with clinical and functional integration. Attendees find this approach enjoyable and a
powerful aid to long-term recall.
The timetable for the July 2020 course is provided below and will take place at King's College London, Guy's Campus
(see
venue here).
